Information on Embroidered Logos

The prices for embroidered designs are based on the required size of the motif and the number of colours in the design. We have three categories of size for charging purposes based on the size of square that the motif will fit into. The maximum number of colour threads that we can use in a design is 9. By far the majority of our designs fit into a 4 by 4 inch (10.1 cm) square and require between 1 and 3 colours of embroidery thread and are charged at the lowest price band.

Max size Thread colours excl VAT incl VAT
4 by 4 inch 1-3 colours £1.95 £2.34
4 by 4 inch 4-9 colours £2.55 £3.06
6 by 6 inch 1-3 colours £3.10 £3.72
6 by 6 inch 4-9 colours £3.75 £4.50
8 by 8 inch 1-3 colours £5.30 £6.36
8 by 8 inch 4-9 colours £5.95 £7.14

If you will be paying standard rate VAT on the garment (eg the garment is for an adult), you need to use the "Incl VAT" price for embroidery. If you are buying at zero rate VAT (eg children's garments) use the "excl VAT" prices.

The discounts are the same as for the garments depending on the quantity you buy - you can take the discount on both the garment and the logo prices.

Embroidery is great for...

  • Sweatshirts and heavyweight t-shirts
  • Shirts and blouses
  • Fleeces and sweaters
  • Designs with more than one colour (up to 9)
  • Where you want a high quality, professional look
  • A textured logo

Embroidery is not so good for...

Large designs - large embroidered logos are very expensive

Standard weight t-shirts - please choose heavyweight t-shirts for embroidery

Designs containing lots of "dots". Every "dot" means we have to tie the thread off which creates a small knot.

We can't embroider...

Items or awkward shapes which we cannot fit into embroidery frames

Very lightweight fabrics

Minimum Order Quantities

Our minimum order quantity for embroidery is 12 garments for a design.

More than one logo?

Many people choose more than one logo on their garments. To work out a price for this just add up the price of each logo you want and add it to the price of the garment.

Set-up of Logo for Embroidery

Artwork must be supplied with the order. This is often as simple as providing us with a sheet of headed notepaper with a few written instructions attached (see submitting logo notes). We will prepare your logo for free (although please note you do not own the embroidery design). Alterations away from the originally submitted design will be charged for. We send out a proof of artwork to customers for confirmation before embroidering their order.

  • We retain all artwork and we can reproduce your design when you want to re-order, say next term or next year.
  • Please mark your order - "as before" and send a photocopy or sample of the design if possible. (This is important if you have more than one design.) Please give your design reference number if possible.

Single colour embroidery

  • We realise that many organisations want to order more than one colour of garment. For a single colour embroidery only we allow one change of colour in the design eg. you can have a light coloured design on dark garments and a dark design on light garments.
  • If you are ordering a wide range of garment colours the two embroidery thread colours that cover the range best are yellow/gold and black.

Multi-colour embroidery

  • We can only change thread colours for multi-coloured designs if you order more than 12 garments for each design colour combination.
  • We suggest that you restrict the garment colours available for ordering by your organisation to the ones that the design will work on.
